U.S. Sen. Rick Scott on Wednesday called for securing America’s southern border, including finishing the wall, if only to stop President Joe Biden from further enriching Mexican drug cartels.
In a speech on the Senate floor, the Florida Republican noted that he, unlike Biden, has visited the Mexican border and seen first-hand the effects of the brutal human and sex trafficking being carried out by drug lords on the other side.
“The cartels push these families over the border. It’s all just money to them,” Scott said.
“Joe Biden is making the cartels richer,” Scott argued. “What makes you mad is that while all this is happening, massive piles of supplies to complete the border, already paid for by the American taxpayer, are just sitting in piles in the desert going to waste.”

“The Biden administration refuses to use these materials because they want an open border.”
Scott noted that since Biden took office 23 months ago, 5 million illegal immigrants have crossed the border. He predicted it would get “a lot worse,” now that Title 42, the law that allowed the government to expel illegals for public health reasons, is expiring.
Scott observed that the Obama-Biden administration said 1,000 illegal crossings a day was a “crisis.” America is now looking at 18,000 a day.
“He created a disaster,” Scott said, “It’s time to end the madness on the southern border.”
Scott then announced that he and fellow Republican Sen. Joni Ernst were introducing the Build It Act to donate those unused materials to the states so they can complete the wall.
“Instead of just doing his job and upholding our laws and securing the border, President Biden is burning $3 million of your tax dollars each and every day so people can babysit raw materials that he refuses to use,” said Scott.
“Illegal immigration threatens our safety, undermines our legal process, and hurts those who have been waiting to come through legal channels.”

“We must act to secure the border now,” added Scott, who also referenced the mayhem created by massive amounts of fentanyl pouring across our porous border.
“Floridians and all Americans want to live in safe communities where their families can thrive and prosper all across this great country. Unfortunately, Joe Biden’s policies of open borders and amnesty have been a total disaster for our nation. He has laid out the welcome mat for traffickers and cartel members, and ignored laws designed to keep American families safe.”
“I hope our colleagues will stand with me Sen. Ernst, today to pass this bill, then we can work with the Republican House to start truly addressing this crisis, before it’s too late,” Scott concluded.
