Last week President Joe Biden actually took a victory lap when Republicans, whom he repeatedly smeared for months as anti-American threats to democracy, didn’t benefit from the supposed “red wave” that pollsters predicted.
“While we don’t know all the results yet, at least I don’t know them all yet, here’s what we do know,” Biden told reporters on Wednesday, “the press and the pundits were predicting a giant red wave — it didn’t happen.”
Biden made the comment the same day that he said he “can’t guarantee that we’re going to be able to get rid of inflation.”
And it turned out he was right.
The next day the Labor Department released the latest inflation numbers. The Consumer Price Index increased by 0.4 percent in October, which was the same as in September. Over the last 12 months, the “all items” index increased 7.7 percent.

Before Biden took office, you’d have to go back to 1981 to find the last time inflation was this high — when it was 8.9 percent as President Ronald Reagan was trying to resurrect the dismal economy left by President Jimmy Carter.
Biden and his media allies took this as proof that his policies are working, since the CPI was 8.2 percent for September.
Yet the 7.7 percent figure is a mirage. Inflation has not been below 7 percent since November 2021. But worse is the spike in the goods that matter most.
Biden’s own Labor Department noted that energy prices are up 17.6 percent for the year as of October, while food costs have spiked 10.9 percent.
It’s arguable whether the voters discounted this last Tuesday. But U.S. Sen. Rick Scott is not forgetting.
The Florida Republican said it was time “to implement substantive fiscal reforms to end the ongoing inflation crisis fueled by the Biden administration’s reckless tax-and-spend agenda.”
“As Americans begin holiday preparations, Joe Biden’s raging inflation crisis is set to crush spirits for the second year in a row. For nearly two years, families in Florida and across the country have been dealing with rising prices and Biden has done NOTHING to fix it,” Scott said in a statement.

“He and Congressional Democrats created this devastating crisis with their endless demand for reckless spending and they must answer for it.”
“Growing up, my family lived in public housing and had to fight tooth and nail every month just to get by. Too many families in America are now living that same struggle and it appears that things will only get worse,” Scott continued.
“Unemployment is rising, prices continue to skyrocket and we could face a critical shortage of fuel and heating oil this winter. That’s the America that Joe Biden’s reckless, failed agenda has created and I won’t rest until we force change that puts American families first.”
“It’s time to end the madness and demand fiscal responsibility that will finally end this national nightmare. Enough is enough,” Scott concluded.
