Earlier this week, Sen. Marco Rubio and other Catholics wanted the head of Major League Baseball to explain whether it really is “inclusive” to openly embrace left-wing groups that smear Christians, especially Roman Catholics.

The Los Angeles Dodgers have now literally come full circle on their support for an anti-Catholic drag group.

The team on Monday retracted its move to disinvite The Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence, a self-described “order of queer and trans nuns,” from a Pride Month event.

Among those who weren’t happy with the reversal was Florida Republican Sen. Marco Rubio, a Catholic who had initially questioned  Major League Baseball Commissioner Rob Manfred about the “pursuit of modern, secular, and indeed anti-religious ‘values’”

As The Free Press reported last week, the team had intended to give the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence, a group that performs sexually-based shows that mock Jesus Christ and Catholic nuns, its “Community Hero Award” at a June 16 Pride event.

Amid criticism, the Dodgers recognized that their support for the group was toxic, and acted accordingly.

“Given the strong feelings of people who have been offended by the sisters’ inclusion in our evening, and in an effort not to distract from the great benefits that we have seen over the years of Pride Night, we are deciding to remove them from this year’s group of honorees,” the Dodgers said in a statement.

On Monday, however, the team flip-flopped.

In a tweet, which included the team altering its logo to reflect the colors of the Pride Progress flag, the Dodgers said, “After much thoughtful feedback from our diverse communities, honest conversations within the Los Angeles Dodgers organization and generous discussions with the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence, the Los Angeles Dodgers would like to offer our sincerest apologies to the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence, members of the LGBTQ+ community and their friends and families.”

“We have asked the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence to take their place on the field at our 10th annual LGBTQ+ Pride Night on June 16th,” the team continued. “We are pleased to share that they have agreed to receive the gratitude of our collective communities for the lifesaving work that they have done tirelessly for decades.”

“In the weeks ahead, we will continue to work with our LGBTQ+ partners to better educate ourselves, find ways to strengthen the ties that bind and use our platform to support all of our fans who make up the diversity of the Dodgers family,” the Dodgers added.

In response, Rubio tweeted on Monday, “Shamefully, (but not surprisingly) the @dodgers have been bullied into apologizing to & ‘re-inviting’ a group of anti-catholic bigots.”

“Today our great country is controlled by socio-political ruling elites who don’t just tolerate anti-Christian bigotry, they encourage & celebrate it.”

The GOP senator then followed up on Tuesday. In another tweet, Rubio added, “If the hate group ‘Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence’ was anti-Islam instead of anti-Catholic there is zero chance the @Dodgers would be honoring them with a ‘Community Hero Award’ next month.”
