Semi-Truck Overturns After Collision With Car In Sumter County On I-75, 2 Drivers Sustain Injuries

SUMTER COUNTY, Fla. -A Hyundai Palisade and a semi-truck hauling 25,000 pounds of clothes collided on I-75 northbound near Milepost 321, resulting in the semi-truck overturning onto the highway shoulder. The incident occurred around 11:13 a.m. on July 23, 2024.

According to Florida Highway Patrol reports, the driver of the Hyundai lost control and initially collided with the inside guardrail. The impact redirected the car back into the path of the semi-truck, leading to a second collision.

The car then struck the outside guardrail before coming to rest on the entrance ramp from CR-470. The semi-truck continued onto the ramp and overturned.

Both drivers, a 34-year-old male from Kissimmee and a 60-year-old male from Ocala, sustained minor injuries in the crash.

The incident caused temporary traffic disruptions as crews worked to clear the scene. An investigation into the cause of the initial loss of control by the Hyundai driver is ongoing.
