HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, Fla. – A semi-truck fire caused significant traffic delays on I-75 in Riverview earlier today.
Hillsborough County Fire Rescue (HCFR) responded to the incident near the Big Bend Road exit (mile marker 246) after the truck driver reported that his vehicle had caught fire. The driver had pulled over due to a flat tire when the fire started.

Upon arrival, HCFR crews found the semi-truck engulfed in flames, with the fire spreading rapidly from the cab to the trailer and its cargo of eggs. Fortunately, the cargo posed no hazardous material threat.
Firefighters were able to bring the blaze under control within 30 minutes, but the scene remained active as crews worked to extinguish hot spots within the cargo.

The incident caused major traffic disruptions, with southbound lanes on I-75 reduced to one lane. HCFR advised drivers to seek alternate routes as significant delays were expected to persist for several hours.
“We appreciate your patience and cooperation as our crews work diligently to ensure the area is safe and traffic flow is restored,” HCFR stated.
