Lebanon experienced a second wave of explosions on Wednesday, targeting Hezbollah’s communication devices. Walkie-talkies detonated in southern Lebanon and Beirut, adding to the turmoil following Tuesday’s pager explosions that injured thousands.
While the extent of Wednesday’s attack remains unclear, it appears to be another blow to Hezbollah. Israel is suspected of orchestrating both attacks, though this is unconfirmed. Reports suggest explosive devices were planted in the devices before they were shipped to Hezbollah from a supply chain suspected to be in Taiwan.
However, the Taiwanese company has denied involvement, stating the devices were manufactured under license in Hungary. Security sources confirm the walkie-talkies were also shipped to Hezbollah recently.

These attacks follow Hezbollah’s ongoing aggression against Israel since Hamas’s invasion on October 7th. The conflict has escalated tensions on the Israeli-Lebanese border, leading to Israeli counterattacks.
Amidst the violence, Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant expressed pessimism about a diplomatic solution due to Hezbollah’s continued support for Hamas and refusal to cease hostilities.
