Second Arrest Made In Shooting Of Off-Duty ATF Agent In Riverview

RIVERVIEW, Fla. – The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) has made a second arrest in connection with the shooting of an off-duty Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) agent in December.

23-year-old Tia Heyward was taken into custody on Wednesday, January 15th, after detectives identified her as an accomplice who aided the shooting suspect following the incident.

The shooting occurred on December 27th, 2024, around 11:07 PM at The Alley at Southshore entertainment complex in Riverview. RELATED: Off-Duty ATF Agent Seriously Injured In Shooting At Riverview Bowling Alley; Teen Arrested

Heyward is facing the following charges:

  • Attempted Murder in the First Degree Premeditated Firearm, Great Bodily Harm (Accessory After the Fact)
  • Aggravated Battery Great Bodily Harm/Death (Accessory After the Fact)
  • Simple Battery (two counts)

“Our detectives have worked tirelessly to ensure that all those responsible for this senseless act of violence are held accountable and face the consequences of their actions,” said Sheriff Chad Chronister.

Sheriff Chronister also expressed support for the injured ATF agent, stating, “Our prayers remain with the ATF agent as he courageously embarks on his road to recovery. His bravery and selflessness exemplify his dedication to protecting our community.”

The investigation remains active.
