Authorities Seek Second Suspect in Florida Keys $15K Lottery Ticket Theft

MONROE COUNTY, Fla. – A second suspect has been arrested in connection with the theft of thousands of dollars worth of lottery tickets from a Lower Keys convenience store, the Sheriff’s Office announced.

Detectives arrested 20-year-old Dave Dackens Pluviose of Key West on Thursday, April 10th. He faces charges of grand theft and conspiracy.

Pluviose’s arrest follows that of 47-year-old Jorge Acevedo Perez of Big Coppitt Key, who was arrested in March on the same charges.

The investigation centers around the theft of approximately $15,000 worth of lottery tickets from the Circle K located at 451 Overseas Highway. Authorities state that the stolen tickets resulted in roughly $8,000 in winnings being claimed.

According to investigators, Pluviose, who was formerly employed at the Circle K, allegedly conspired with Acevedo Perez. Security video footage reportedly shows Pluviose providing large amounts of lottery tickets to Acevedo Perez multiple times without charging him.

Further evidence obtained from supermarket security cameras allegedly shows both Pluviose and Acevedo Perez cashing in some of the stolen lottery tickets together.

Both men now face felony charges related to the alleged theft.
