MARION COUNTY, Fla. – Danielle Jane Liles, a 41-year-old woman from Summerfield, Florida, has been sentenced to one year and one day in federal prison for wire fraud. Liles was also ordered to repay the victimized alternative school $766,553.54 and forfeit $616,793.43 in ill-gotten gains.
Court documents reveal that from 2016 to 2023, Liles, who managed payroll at Silver River Mentoring and Instruction (SRMI), issued 137 unauthorized paychecks to herself by entering false information into the school’s accounting software.

Over eight years, she received these fraudulent payments through wire transfers, costing the school over $750,000 in stolen wages, benefits, and taxes. Liles confessed to her scheme during a financial review, admitting to an addiction to stealing the funds.
The case was investigated by the FBI and the U.S. Department of Education’s Office of Inspector General. Liles pleaded guilty in December 2023 and was sentenced by U.S. District Judge Thomas P. Barber.
