Saturday Afternoon Crash Turns Fatal In Gibsonton

HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, Fla. – A 61-year-old Gibsonton man lost his life in a crash at the intersection of Shirley Avenue and US-41 on Saturday afternoon.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the crash occurred around 12:00 PM. The Gibsonton man was driving a Chrysler Concorde eastbound on Shirley Avenue when he entered the intersection and was struck by a southbound Mazda CX-5 driven by a 57-year-old Tampa man.

The driver of the Chrysler was transported to a local hospital but tragically succumbed to his injuries.

The driver of the Mazda and three passengers in his vehicle sustained minor injuries and were also taken to area hospitals for treatment.
