SARASOTA, Fla. – A Sarasota woman has been arrested for a shooting that happened in the 700 block of Central Avenue, Sarasota, shortly after 2:30 a.m. on Saturday, June 3, 2023.
Carrie Ecklund, 48, Sarasota, was arrested by Sarasota Police shortly after 7 p.m. on Monday, June 5, 2023.
According to police, She is facing charges of Criminal Mischief for damage greater than $1,000 and Possession of a Firearm while in the Commission of a Felony.
One victim was grazed by a bullet in the arm during the Saturday morning shooting and had non-life-threatening injuries.

Surveillance video from several cameras on the property showed Ecklund in possession of a black handgun during the incident. One camera clearly shows Ecklund loading the firearm and then walking toward where the shooting occurred. Detectives also located a bullet fragment inside the building.
A hurricane-proof window, valued at $3,240.00, was found shattered at the scene. There was one bullet hole in the window.
Detectives do not believe there were other victims or suspects associated with this shooting.
