Sarasota Police Investigating Weekend Crash That Killed 3 Florida Residents

SARASOTA, FL. – The Sarasota Police Department Traffic Unit is investigating a traffic crash that took the lives of three adults on Sunday, February 6, 2022.

On Sunday, Feb. 6, 2022, at about 12:30 a.m., Sarasota Police officers responded to the 1200 block of Myrtle Road for a single-vehicle traffic crash.

When they arrived on the scene, officers found three adults, one man, and two women, dead as a result of the crash.

Officers believe the three people were friends and were visiting the area.  One woman is from Venice and the other man and woman are from Brevard County.

While details are still preliminary, the investigation indicates that the vehicle was traveling westbound on Myrtle Street and approached the roundabout at Old Bradenton Road.  For unknown reasons, the driver lost control, drove over the roundabout, through a fence, and hit a tree.

Officers are awaiting toxicology reports, which could take several weeks.

Officers do believe speed was a factor.  The Sarasota Police Department Traffic Unit and Criminalistics Unit responded to the scene.  The crash remains under investigation by the Sarasota Police Department Traffic Unit.
