HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, Fla. – A tractor-trailer hauling sand overturned on the westbound entrance ramp of Interstate 4 at Mango Road this afternoon, causing significant delays and spilling its sandy cargo across the roadway. The incident occurred at approximately 12:35 PM, according to a preliminary report from the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP).

The report indicates that the tractor-trailer, driven by a 61-year-old man from Tampa, was traveling northbound on Mango Road and attempting to turn left onto the westbound I-4 entrance ramp. The driver reportedly failed to negotiate the turn, resulting in the vehicle overturning.

The impact of the rollover caused the truck to spill its entire load of sand onto the entrance ramp and potentially into the travel lanes of westbound I-4. Emergency responders were quickly dispatched to the scene.

The FHP confirmed that the driver of the tractor-trailer sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to a nearby hospital for medical treatment.
