‘Rollin’ 60s’ Gang Leader Pleads Guilty To Racketeering Charges In New Jersey

A high-ranking member of the Rollin’ 60s Neighborhood Crips gang has pleaded guilty to federal racketeering charges, admitting his role in a conspiracy that involved violence and drug trafficking.

Jason Franklin, also known as “Freak,” 41, entered his plea before U.S. District Judge Susan D. Wigenton. He faces a maximum sentence of life in prison and a fine of up to $250,000. Sentencing is scheduled for May 21, 2025.

According to court documents, Franklin held a leadership position within the Rollin’ 60s and ordered other members to commit acts of violence, including murder and attempted murder.

In March 2019, Franklin ordered the murder of a rival gang member in retaliation for the death of a Rollin’ 60s member. In April 2021, Franklin ordered another attack, resulting in the attempted murder of a rival gang member.

The investigation into Franklin’s activities was conducted by a multi-agency task force, including the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), the Internal Revenue Service (IRS-CI), the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF), the U.S. Marshals Service, and various state and local law enforcement agencies.
