SARASOTA COUNTY, Fla. – Heavy rainfall has caused several road closures in Sarasota County. These closures will remain in effect until conditions improve or necessary repairs are completed:

  • 17th Street: Closed between Euclid Avenue and Mango Avenue due to flooding. Barricades are in place.
  • Tuttle Avenue: Closed between Tanglewood Drive and Valencia Drive due to sidewalk and retaining wall collapse. Barricades are in place.
  • Beach Road: Closed near Siesta Beach due to flooding. A “road underwater” sign is in place.

The Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office responded to numerous calls regarding flooded vehicles, some of which remain stranded on the roadways. As floodwaters recede, any abandoned vehicles obstructing the road will be towed.

Motorists are strongly advised to avoid these areas and seek alternate routes. Please exercise caution when driving in areas prone to flooding.
