RIVERVIEW, Fla. – The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) has arrested a man following a shooting incident that left a woman critically injured Saturday.
On Saturday at 1:22 a.m., the HCSO Communications Center received a report of a female who had reportedly accidentally shot herself at a residence in the 11800 block of Dumaine Valley Road in Riverview.
Upon arrival, deputies encountered Leroyce Durham, 43, who directed them to the adult female victim.

She had sustained a gunshot wound to her lower back and was transported to the hospital, where she remains in critical condition.
During the subsequent investigation, detectives determined that Durham was responsible for shooting the victim following an altercation earlier that evening.
Durham was taken into custody without incident and is facing the following charges:
- Aggravated Battery Great Bodily Harm and Deadly Weapon
- Attempted Murder in the Second Degree Firearm – Great Bodily Harm
- Felon in Possession of a Firearm

“This tragic incident highlights just how quickly lives can be changed by violence,” said Sheriff Chad Chronister. “No one should ever fear for their life in their own home. I commend our deputies and detectives for acting quickly to arrest the suspect and begin the process of seeking justice for the victim.”
