HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, Fla. – A Riverview man attempted to evade arrest on a felony warrant but was ultimately captured thanks to the collaborative efforts of Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office deputies and their Aviation Section.

On December 1st, deputies responded to a residence in Riverview to serve a felony warrant on 40-year-old Scott Dudley. However, Dudley fled the scene, attempting to escape on foot.

The HCSO Aviation Section quickly joined the pursuit, locating Dudley as he tried to hide. The helicopter crew provided crucial aerial surveillance, guiding ground units to Dudley’s location and assisting in his apprehension.

Dudley was arrested and now faces additional charges, including:

  • Resisting an officer without violence
  • Possession of a controlled substance
  • Possession of drug paraphernalia

“This is another example of how great our Aviation Section and ground units are at working together,” said Sheriff Chad Chronister. “When someone breaks the law, we’re going to find them and hold them accountable, and trying to flee won’t work.”
