Ramone Alston, 30, who escaped from a medical transport van on Tuesday, was apprehended early Friday morning at a hotel in Kannapolis, a suburb of Charlotte, North Carolina.
Alston, convicted of killing a one-year-old girl, managed to escape the van upon arrival at a hospital in Hillsborough by removing his leg restraints and fleeing into the woods while still handcuffed.
The search for Alston involved hundreds of law enforcement officials, including the FBI, Kannapolis Police, and Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police. He was taken into custody without incident.

Following his capture, a woman named Jacobia Crisp was arrested in Alamance County and charged with aiding and abetting a fugitive, according to CBS.
The reward for information leading to Alston’s arrest had reached $50,000, but details on what led authorities to his location have not been released.
