As the November elections approach, data released Wednesday by the Florida Division of Elections shows the Republican Party holds a significant voter registration lead over the Democrats. As of September 30, the GOP had nearly 1.055 million more registered voters than the Florida Democratic Party, with 5,455,480 “active” registered Republicans compared to 4,400,561 Democrats.
Additionally, 3,584,982 voters were registered as having no party affiliation, while 404,890 were registered with third parties.

Historically, Democrats led voter registration in Florida, but Republicans gained the upper hand in 2021 and have since expanded their lead. The GOP currently controls all statewide offices and maintains a strong majority in both the state Legislature and Florida’s congressional delegation.
The Democratic Party argues that the registration numbers don’t tell the full story, as they exclude “inactive” voters who still remain eligible to vote. State data from August 31 showed the Republicans holding a 1.026 million active voter registration advantage at that time.
