In May 2021, Glenn Kessler, the heralded Washington Post “fact-checker,” announced that he was ending the practice of documenting lies by the president once Joe Biden’s first 100 days were over.

As the Post, which once dubiously claimed former President Donald Trump offered more than 30,000 “lies” while in office, explained at the time, “The Biden era has offered a return to a more typical pattern — one that features frequent spin and obfuscation or exaggeration.”

The more natural explanation was that the Post, allegedly exhausted from chronicling Trump’s wild statements, didn’t want the even more daunting task of tracking Biden, a well-traveled liar who infamously dropped out of his first presidential election in 1987 for pilfering the details of a British politician’s life as his own.

The Post, however reluctantly, again cranked up the fact-checking machine, to the point that in November 2022 Biden was given a  Bottomless Pinocchio for repeating a falsehood so often that it was deemed “propaganda.”

Biden’s record clearly has not improved, as a new report by The Daily Caller found on Monday.

Just in 2024 alone, Biden’s gaffes, misstatements and outright lies have forced the White House communications to correct his public remarks at least 148 times from Jan. 1 to April 24 — an average or more than once a day.

The Daily Caller based that on its review of official White House transcripts.

“The White House releases an official transcript anytime the president gives a speech or takes questions,” the outlet noted. “Communications staff frequently correct, add to or alter Biden’s official remarks in order to either bring them into compliance with official White House policy or, in some cases, reality.”

“In several cases, official statements had to be changed to convey the exact opposite of what Biden actually said.”

“Some of the modifications include corrections to names, dates and titles of organizations. Others change verbs and modify the meaning of the president’s statement entirely. Words that the president didn’t say, but should’ve, according to the White House staff, have also been added to the transcripts,” the Daily Caller continued.

As just one example, the transcript of Biden’s comments at a Jan. 30 campaign reception: “We vaccinated the vast bulk of America. We got through that pandemic with less than 200 million — with less than 2 million people being vaccinated when I came to office. Today, 720 [270] million Americans have gotten COVID vaccine.”

For comparison, Biden’s team corrected his more recent State of the Union address transcript 13 times. Yet in 2020, the Trump White House didn’t make any changes to his last SOTU.

Comparing Trump’s last Earth Day comments to Biden’s most recent, Trump’s was not modified at all while Biden’s featured eight corrections.

Yes, it clearly seems to be a full-time job staying on top of Biden’s lies, malaprops, and gaffes.
