At 8 pm on Wednesday, Tucker Carlson filled in his former time slot from Fox News by taking to Twitter with a message to the public.

Conservative pundit Tucker Carlson apparently has ended speculation that he would run as former President Donald Trump’s pick for vice president.

His answer: no, unless God orders him to.

According to the conservative website Trending Politics on Friday, Carlson attended the American Principles Project Foundation annual Christmas bash earlier this week and addressed reports that former first lady Melania Trump was lobbying her husband to take Carlson on as his running mate.

Carlson reportedly said he would consider an offer to be VP, but on one condition.

“God would have to yell at me very loud,” he told the gathering.

On X (formerly Twitter), Philip Melanchthon Wegmann, White House reporter for RealClearNews, noted that Carlson also told the group that being around politicians all the time “is so repulsive to me.”

Wegmann also reported that when an audience member pressed the former Fox News star about being Trump’s VP, Carlson replied: “I have no interest in that.”

He also told the gathering that he advises his employees, “stay in your freaking lane.”

Trump himself has stirred the pot about Carlson.

Last month, he told conservative podcasters Clay Travis and Buck Sexton that he liked Carlson and believes he would consider him for VP because “he’s got great common sense.”

Fox News fired its most popular host in April.

Since then, he has re-emerged with a new broadcast over X, where he has 10.8 million followers, more than double the regular nightly audience he had on Fox News.
