The National Security Council (NSC) has reportedly seen a staff purge, with at least six staffers fired and more expected, according to multiple U.S. officials who spoke to media outlets under the condition of anonymity.
These firings are alleged to be connected to a visit to the Oval Office by right-wing personality Laura Loomer on Wednesday.
Sources claim that Loomer presented President Trump with opposition research on NSC staffers she perceived as “neoconservatives” or insufficiently loyal to him. While President Trump acknowledged seeing Loomer on Wednesday, he denied that her visit was the cause of the NSC dismissals.

“Always, we’re going to let go of people, people we don’t like” or who can’t do the job or “may have loyalties to someone else,” the president told reporters when asked about the NSC firings.
Those reportedly fired include Brian Walsh, senior director for intelligence; Thomas Boodry, senior director for legislative affairs; and David Feith, another senior director.
Sources indicate that Loomer has also targeted Alex Wong, national security adviser Mike Waltz’s deputy. Loomer had previously questioned Wong and his wife’s loyalty on X (formerly Twitter).
NSC spokesman Brian Hughes declined to comment on the personnel changes, stating, “NSC doesn’t comment on personnel matters.”

The report also connects the staff changes to recent scrutiny surrounding Mike Waltz’s apparent inadvertent inclusion of Atlantic editor-in-chief Jeffrey Goldberg in a Signal conversation about Yemen attack plans.
A source familiar with the situation suggested that the Signal incident “opened the door” to a review of NSC protocol and staff alignment with the president. The material presented by Loomer reportedly expedited the termination of certain staffers, though discussions about their status were already underway.
The administration is said to be reviewing NSC staff meetings and reprimanding those who meet with individuals deemed not to be aligned with the president.
