Among myriad phony claims routinely spread by President Joe Biden and most Democrats is the whopper that Republicans are the party of the rich and powerful.

However, campaign contributions to the main presidential contenders clearly show who the rich and powerful are rooting for.

On Saturday, the conservative website Trending Politics reported that Biden and former President Donald Trump have taken vastly divergent approaches to rustling up campaign cash.

Citing campaign financial reports by each camp, the website noted, “Biden has continued to receive massive donations from corporations and special interest groups,” while at the same time “is struggling mightily to secure small-dollar donations.”

Yet it is Trump who “has seen a massive spike in small-dollar donations.”

Trending Politics reported that “small” donations are defined as contributions to candidates or political action committees of between $1 and $200.

Federal Elections Commission records reveal that 35% of Biden’s 2024 re-election contributions have been from fatcats who toss in at least $2,000.

On the other hand, just 38% of the Democratic president’s current campaign donations have come from those small donors.

On the other hand, 61% of Trump’s campaign funds came from small donors, while just 9% were given by those offering $2,000 or more.

The current data show a big shift between 2020 and 2024.

Four years ago, the candidates were split about evenly in raking in small-donor aid.

Trump received 52% of contributions from small donors, while Biden’s camp took in 49%.

Now, Biden’s support from big donors has grown by ten percentage points from 2020, while Trump’s ratio of that group has fallen by the same amount.

Trending Politics noted that the disparity between the two camps took on more relevance after Biden held a glitzy fundraiser in New York City last week that featured former presidents Bill Clinton and Barack Obama.

Biden raised $26 million from that event, some tickets for which fetched as much as $25,000 a plate.
