In recent weeks, as the culture war over DEI policies has escalated, conservative pundits have argued that implementing such woke policies puts people at risk by lowering employment and education standards.
Right on cue, that is what the U.S. Navy is doing to meet its recruiting goal.
The Navy will reduce educational standards to make the numbers and no longer require a high school diploma.

The Navy will start to accept applicants who have dropped out of school and will now also accept applicants who haven’t earned a high school diploma or acquired a GED.
Navy Vice Adm. Rick Cheeseman, the service’s personnel chief, claimed thousands of potential recruits are turned away because they cannot meet the educational credentials.
The Navy missed its recruiting goal by about 6,000 new sailors last year.
Yet the service rejected more than 2,400 possible recruits in 2023 because they failed to meet the education standards, according to Cheeseman.
“The Navy is a different place than it has been in the past, and we know through data that your education credential may not be the front and center thing that predicts your success in the Navy,” Cheeseman told Military.com.
About 500 of them could have enlisted under the new rules because they scored high enough on the service’s aptitude test to qualify.
New recruits can pass that test by scoring 50 or higher out of 99 on the test.
Like the Navy, the Army and the Air Force have also missed recruiting goals under President Joe Biden.
As the Tampa Free Press has reported, the Army came up short of its goal by about 10,000 recruits, which was largely due to a dropoff in white enlistees.
GOP Rep. Matt Gaetz of Florida attributed that shortfall to “the white boys from the SEC [Southeastern Conference] states in the South” failing to sign up because they object to the “compounding impact” of Biden’s left-wing priorities for the military.
Those include the COVID-19 vaccine mandate, indoctrination through Critical Race Theory, the military’s “embrace” of socialism, and drag shows on military bases, according to Gaetz.
Others felt similarly about the Navy’s news.
One X user, Linda Britton-Fairchild, blamed the Navy’s deficit on its left-wing inclinations.
“THIS IS NOTHING MORE THAN DEI MILITARY STYLE,” she posted of the Navy’s new recruitment policy. “Low IQ, mentally unstable, sexually confused, angry, obese, physically unconditioned, illiterate, cross dressing wokesters. God help us if we do end up in WWIII.”
