Now, the Ford Motor Co. might find itself the latest target of anti-woke criticism.

Circulating on social media is a commercial Ford featuring a Pride-themed Raptor pickup truck.

The minute-long ad shows two of the trucks jockeying across rural, dusty open terrain. Near the end, the trucks pass through spraying water.

One of them comes out painted like the Progress Pride flag.

As the ad ends, the words “Redefining tough” flash on the screen.

Ford’s ad first appeared a year ago in June, for Pride month. It appears to have been made by the automaker’s European division.

As Sports Keeda reported, “Ford’s ‘Very Gay’ Raptor adopted a glittery gold body adorned with a wave of rainbow running from the front side of the car to the back. The Pride-themed Raptor was in response to a homophobic comment about a Ranger Raptor video that was shared in 2021.”

In June 2021, Ford unveiled a commercial for the Raptor. The truck was blue. In response, one social media user called the color “very gay.”

Ford responded with another commercial showing the glittery gold truck adorned with the Progress Pride flag.

That “Very Gay Raptor” ad coincided with a series of videos called “Tough Talks.” Ford posted the series featuring Gareth Thomas, a former Welsh rugby player who is the first rugby union player to come out as openly gay.

Thomas speaks with people in the series about alleged homophobia in the automotive industry.

Sports Keeda’s article included several comments from posts on Twitter and YouTube about the Raptor commercial.

One viewer notes, “Would go real good with a couple of cases of Bud Light.”

Bud Light has been the highest-profile target of criticism, but it’s not alone.

The Mars candy company, Jack Daniels, Miller Lite, and Target have also made the list recently.
