Republican Rep. Greg Steube clearly believes sometimes images say more than words.
Last week, as Democrats on the House Judiciary Committee sought to ram through new gun-control laws whose effectiveness is an open question, Steube, who attended the hearing via video, showed them the guns that would be banned under the liberals’ proposals, including one he carries daily to protect himself and his family.
The Sarasota Republican displayed three pistols, and noted that Democrats’ efforts to ban “high-capacity” magazines, a proposal ostensibly made for military-style rifles, would essentially end up banning all three of his guns.
That’s because they were made to hold magazines holding at least 15 rounds, and smaller ones simply don’t fit.
At one point during his comments, left-wing Texas Democratic Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee said, “I hope that gun is not loaded.”
Steube immediately replied, “I’m at my house. I can do whatever I want with my guns.”

The congressman reiterated that point later on Twitter.
“Everything you need to know about this gun control package: Democrats don’t even want to let me show what they’re trying to ban,” he wrote in the post that also featured the video of the hearing.
“I’m an American in my own home, and I’ll do whatever I want with my guns, Mr. Chairman.”
