Rep. Matt Gaetz recently criticized some Fox News stars as “childish” after they mocked him for collaborating with left-wing Democratic Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.
Last week Gaetz and AOC teamed up to co-introduce a bill to prohibit members of Congress from trading stocks.
Gaetz has noted in interviews that in 2022 lawmakers from both parties made stock trades totaling $788 million. Moreover, he pointed out that those deals involved about one of every four lawmakers.

But he has faced some criticism for joining forces with AOC, a New York Democrat and one of the most renowned Republican haters in Congress.
Gaetz has defended the partnership, including AOC personally.
For example, on May 5 he tweeted, “I’ll work with anyone and everyone to make Congress less corrupt, including Rep. @AOC. Members of Congress should not be allowed to trade individual stocks. It’s like letting the referee bet on the game. The conflict is so obvious to the American people.”
On Fox News earlier this week, they ridiculed the pair.
On a “The Five” broadcast, host Greg Gutfeld and Jeanine Pirro mocked Gaetz.
“I smell a romantic comedy,” said Gutfeld. “A beautiful left-wing communist and a dashing right-wing male fresh off a wrongful accusation of sexual misconduct. They come together to fight one of the most corrupt practices in politics, and they fall in love.”

“They can’t help themselves. She’s got a French poodle. He’s got a strange hairline. But somehow, they’re going to make it work,” Gutfeld added.
Pirro and co-host Jesse Watters then pointed out that Gaetz is married, and AOC is engaged. But then Pirro, a judge, ended the segment by joking about marrying the lawmakers in Gutfeld’s scenario.
Gaetz was unimpressed.
On his “Firebrand” podcast this week, he called out Gutfeld and Pirro as immature.
He argued that ideological opposites who agree on a policy trying to make Congress “more honest and more ethical” deserve better than to be subjected to “very childish and immature commentary.”
“It does seem a little childish to me that the media always has to oversexualize everything that AOC is involved with. They wouldn’t do that to men,” Gaetz added.

As for Pirro, he added, “By the end of the Greg Gutfeld rant, she’s bailed, and she’s wanting to be the officiant for me and AOC. So shame on you, Judge Jeanine. You know better than that. You were there for my engagement.”
