President Joe Biden’s open-border immigration policies continue to afflict every corner of America. In one recent example, it’s now the Gulf Coast beach community of Englewood.

Republican Rep. Greg Steube of Florida spotlighted Englewood on X on Tuesday, sharing a local crime story about an illegal immigrant charged with rape.

As the Tampa Free Press reported Tuesday, Charlotte County deputies on Sunday arrested Santo Felix Crus-Ramos, 25, on suspicion of rape.

Deputies reported that an unnamed woman invited Crus-Ramos to join her in a hotel room for cocktails. Once inside the room, he forced himself on her and then fled the scene.

When investigators tracked him down, Crus-Ramos denied raping the woman but admitted he was an illegal immigrant.

Two roommates told cops that a jacket left behind in the victim’s room belonged to Crus-Ramos. They also identified him in the hotel’s security camera footage.

Cruz-Ramos is being held without bail.

“I don’t care where you’re from. If you come to Charlotte County and you commit a crime, especially one as heinous as this, you will face consequences for that action,” Sheriff Bill Prummell said in a statement.

“I want to commend the victim for her courage to come forward with this. It is not an easy thing to do, and because she did, we can make sure that he doesn’t do this to anyone else here.”

On X, Congressman Steube pointed out, however, that were it not for Biden’s policies, Crus-Ramos would not have been able to do the crime in Englewood.

“Every community is a border community under Joe Biden’s open border policies – including Englewood, where an illegal immigrant was recently arrested for sexual battery,” Steube posted.

“This tragic incident underscores the urgent need to address the invasion of our country through our border. Our communities deserve safety and protection, which starts with a secure border. These criminals should never be in our country to begin with.”
