Rep. Matt Gaetz argues that the Pentagon’s embrace of radical “diversity, equity, and inclusion” practices has left America more vulnerable to its enemies.
Gaetz on Thursday appeared on Fox News with anchor Laura Ingraham to explain why he and other Republicans ripped the Biden administration for furthering DEI initiatives, including those rooted in the LGBTQ agenda and Critical Race Theory, at the expense of military readiness.
During a hearing on the new defense spending bill, Gaetz, a Fort Walton Beach Republican, proposed a measure to rid the Defense Department of the chief diversity officer posts and all funding to support DEI projects and programs.

The effort to end the diversity officer posts passed.
Yet Ingraham noted that Gaetz’s push to eliminate all DEI spending failed because two Republicans — Reps. Don Bacon of Nebraska and Mike Turner of Ohio — joined Democrats in voting it down.
Gaetz added that the chief diversity officers make as much as $183,000 a year, which is more than members of Congress.
“If the chief diversity officer is what we need to win wars, maybe we should send them all to the front lines in Ukraine, like now. Get them to Taiwan,” said Gaetz.
Gaetz added that the existence of such programs “dilutes our readiness.”
“While China is focused on AU [artificial intelligence], we’re focused on LGBTQAI+,” said Gaetz. “Every major institution the Democrats have taken over … they’ve destroyed it. And we cannot allow that happen to our military.”
Gaetz added that even minorities have come to him to explain that the embrace of CRT is divisive and harmful to training and camaraderie.

“We went from ‘Be all you can be,’ one of the greatest slogans of all time, to this embrace of radical gender ideology and radical race ideology,” said Gaetz.
He added that Congress should not pass any spending authorization bill for the Pentagon until lawmakers “uproot all of the wokeness.”
“This was the core covenant we had with our voters to get into the majority,” said Gaetz.
