Republican Rep. Elise Stefanik of New York threw her support behind an impeachment inquiry into President Joe Biden for his alleged involvement in his son Hunter’s business dealings.
Several House Republicans, including Speaker Kevin McCarthy, have floated impeachment against the president after new allegations from Internal Revenue Service (IRS) whistleblowers.
Fox Business asked Stefanik Thursday if she’s supportive of such an inquiry, to which she responded, “absolutely.”
“I’m in conversations with Speaker McCarthy and all of our members and the important thing to know about impeachment inquiry is that ensures that the House is at the apex of its power and oversight responsibility,” said Stefanik. “I believe that the American people are smart. They understand that the big guy is Joe Biden. But having that impeachment inquiry allows us to get all the facts and have the most constitutionally recognized power from the House of Representatives.”
Stefanik slammed the White House and Department of Justice (DOJ) for “trying to quietly change its language” in regard to the president’s involvement with Hunter’s foreign business dealings.
The congresswoman argued that the White House previously said Biden had never spoken with Hunter about his dealings and now has shifted its position to say Biden hasn’t “been in business” with his son.
