Florida Rep. Anna Paulina Luna was not present on Tuesday for the historic vote to dump House Speaker Kevin McCarthy.

But the Clearwater Republican has already indicated whom she will support in the vote to replace McCarthy.

“I will vote for the speaker who publicly and clearly commits to defunding Jack Smith’s anti-American election interference witch hunts and subpoenas Hunter Biden while bringing a vote on impeachment of Joe Biden to the floor of the House,” Luna said on X (formerly Twitter).

“We must have free and fair elections and end the corruption of our government,” she continued. “America will only survive if we do those things. These are my terms.”

Luna was one of three Republicans who did not cast a ballot in the controversial vote to remove McCarthy. She had supported the former speaker in January after conservative GOP lawmakers, led by Rep. Matt Gaetz, secured several promises from McCarthy to obtain their support.

Gaetz and other hard-liners accused McCarthy of violating those promises in explaining their desire to remove him.

It was not immediately clear why Luna did not vote. Four Democrats, including former Speaker Nancy Pelosi, also did not vote.
