As Republican Erika Booth and Democrat Tom Keen campaign in a Jan. 16 special election in Central Florida’s House District 35, registered voters are almost evenly divided among Republicans, Democrats and unaffiliated voters.
At a Dec. 18 registration deadline, the district had 37,786 unaffiliated voters, 37,489 Democrats and 37,155 Republicans, according to data posted on the Florida Division of Elections website.
In all, the district had 115,228 voters, including people registered with third parties.
The data also showed that 89,902 voters were in Orange County, while 25,326 were in Osceola County.
Booth and Keen won Nov. 7 primary elections as they seek to succeed former Rep. Fred Hawkins, a St. Cloud Republican who was named this summer as president of South Florida State College.
