A 59-year-old Florida woman has been arrested and charged with aggravated assault after allegedly pointing a pellet gun resembling a real firearm at two teenagers fishing in a pond behind her home.
Donna Elkins was arrested following an incident on March 28th, where she reportedly confronted two boys, ages 13 and 15, who were fishing in the pond behind her residence on Royston Drive.
According to a probable cause arrest affidavit from the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office, Elkins called 911, stating she had “petrified” the boys and had them “laying on the ground.”

Deputies responding to the scene spoke with Elkins, who admitted to approaching the boys with a pellet gun to “scare them.” However, the boys and a witness provided a different account of the incident.
The teenagers told deputies that Elkins approached them and threatened to “blow their heads off.” They said they feared for their lives and believed they were in imminent danger. Elkins allegedly ordered them to lie on the ground and prevented them from leaving.
A witness corroborated the boys’ account, stating they saw the teenagers drop to the ground in fear as Elkins, armed, approached them while yelling. The witness reportedly told deputies that the boys appeared to be in fear for their lives.

Elkins’ husband intervened and “disarmed” her before deputies arrived. The pellet gun was recovered by law enforcement.
Deputies confirmed that the boys were approximately 30 feet behind Elkins’ home but were standing on property belonging to the development.
Elkins was arrested and booked into the Brevard County Jail. She has since been released on bond and is scheduled to appear in court on April 22nd. She faces two counts of aggravated assault.
