Recent monitoring indicates that the red tide organism, Karenia brevis, was detected at very low levels in only one location in Northwest Florida over the past week.
According to the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC), K. brevis was observed at background concentrations in a single sample from Gulf County.
In other parts of the state:
- Southwest Florida: K. brevis was not observed.
- Florida East Coast: K. brevis was not observed.

Satellite imagery analysis (from USF and NOAA NCCOS) shows clear conditions, with no signs of elevated algal biomass. Monitoring efforts will continue.
No fish kills suspected to be related to red tide were reported to the FWC’s Fish Kill Hotline or other partners in the past week.
Respiratory irritation potentially linked to red tide was also not reported in Florida during the past week.
