NEW PORT RICHEY, FL – For over 15 years, the RAP River Run has served as a vital fundraiser and community event, supporting runaway and homeless youth in Pasco County. This year’s event, scheduled for Saturday, June 14, 2025, promises to continue that tradition, offering a 10K, 5K, and Kids Adventure Run to benefit the RAP House Runaway and Homeless Youth Shelter.

Organized by Youth and Family Alternatives (YFA), the RAP River Run has become a staple in the community, attracting over 1,500 runners annually. The event directly supports the RAP House, which has provided shelter and support to at-risk youth since 1970.

The RAP House offers a safe haven and essential services to runaway, homeless, and foster youth, helping them navigate emotional, psychological, and social challenges. Over the past 55 years, YFA has provided shelter for over 12,000 youth, relying heavily on community support to continue its mission.

Angel Cook, a former RAP House resident and current RAP River Run committee member, credits the shelter with “saving her life.” Now, Cook plays a crucial role in the annual event’s success, highlighting the transformative impact of the RAP House.

A former shelter youth shared, “Anything I needed, you helped me with. Court, support, school, family issues, all of it. I have seen my own growth. I am sad to leave, but you have taught me how to make hard decisions that are in my best interest. I’m going to miss the shelter a lot.”

Spring Engineering, the event’s presenting sponsor, has been a steadfast supporter since the race’s inception, contributing to the event’s success in raising over $1 million for the RAP House.
