TAMPA, Fla. – A 30-year-old man was apprehended by Tampa Police early this morning after attempting an armed robbery at a 7-Eleven. The swift arrest was made possible by a detailed description provided by witnesses and the rapid response of officers.
The incident occurred on April 3, 2025, at approximately 6:14 a.m., in the parking lot of the 7-Eleven located at 4943 E Busch Blvd. An adult male victim was approached by the suspect, later identified as Alec Holmes, who was armed with a handgun and demanded money.

Fortunately, the victim was able to escape without injury and promptly contacted the police. Witnesses at the scene provided officers with a detailed description of Holmes.
Tampa Police officers arrived on the scene quickly and located Holmes, who was still in the vicinity. He was positively identified and subsequently arrested.
Holmes has been charged with Armed Robbery (attempted), Aggravated Assault with Intent to Commit a Felony, and Felon in Possession of a Firearm. He was transported to the Orient Road Jail.
