Pro-Hamas protesters sought to storm the White House on Saturday in a show of anger at President Joe Biden for his position on the war between Israel and Hamas.
The violent protest, which led to no arrests, forced some White House personnel to be evacuated.
Yet on Tuesday, others inside the White House, as well as federal workers from nearly two dozen agencies, intend to simply walk off the job to express their support for the Palestinians.
And conservative Republicans in the House seek to hold them accountable.

The website Al-Monitor.com reported late last week that pro-Hamas activists within the federal bureaucracy predicted that hundreds of their co-workers would leave work on Tuesday as a protest to the Middle East war.
That would include staffers from 22 federal agencies, including Biden’s own executive office staff at the White House, the National Security Agency, the Defense Department, State Department, and Department of Homeland Security, among others.
As Al-Monitor reported, “The group — calling itself Feds United for Peace — consists of dozens of government employees who will be observing a ‘Day of Mourning’ to mark 100 days of Israel’s military campaign in Gaza. The organizers, who are choosing to remain anonymous, say they expect ‘easily hundreds’ of others to join in their walkout. …”
But GOP lawmakers argue such behavior should not go unpunished.

As Axios reported on Sunday, “Top House Republicans plan to press federal agencies to punish workers who participate in a planned walk out next week in protest of the Biden administration’s support for Israel.”
“It’s the first time Congress has gotten involved in the widespread staff-level dissent taking place within the federal government over the Israel-Hamas war.”
In a statement, House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) said, “Any government worker who walks off the job to protest U.S. support for our ally Israel is ignoring their responsibility and abusing the trust of taxpayers.”
“They deserve to be fired,” he added, according to Axios.
Johnson added that he was working with House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer “to ensure that each federal agency initiates appropriate disciplinary proceedings.”

Republican Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene of Georgia was on board for that.
“Another reason I won’t feel guilty over a government shutdown,” she posted on X of the walkout. “Too many federal employees are nothing more than political activists. This will be a great list to fire ASAP!”
