Just hours after being sworn in as the 47th president of the United States, Donald J. Trump wasted no time in delivering on his campaign promises by signing a sweeping series of executive orders aimed at reversing key Biden-era policies and reasserting his administration’s priorities.

Among the most notable actions was the rescission of 78 executive actions signed by President Joe Biden, which Trump labeled as detrimental to economic growth and American sovereignty.

“The first item that President Trump is signing is the rescission of 78 Biden-era executive actions, executive orders, presidential memoranda, and others,” an administration official announced during the signing event.

Key Executive Orders Signed by President Trump:

  1. Regulatory Freeze:
    • Trump enacted an immediate halt to the issuance of new federal regulations, stating his administration must have “full control” over government operations before allowing any new policies to take effect.
    • “We need to stop the bureaucrats from running wild,” Trump remarked.
  2. Federal Hiring Freeze:
    • The president signed an order freezing all federal hiring, with exceptions for the military and critical positions, until his administration assesses the size and scope of government operations.
  3. Return to In-Person Work:
    • Trump mandated that all federal employees return to full-time, in-person work immediately, ending the widespread remote work policies adopted during the pandemic.
    • “People need to get back to work—no more excuses,” Trump said, adding that his administration would ensure government services operate at full capacity.
  4. Cost of Living Crisis Directive:
    • Trump issued a directive requiring all federal agencies to focus on addressing the cost of living crisis, which he claims worsened under the Biden administration.
  5. Withdrawal from the Paris Climate Agreement:
    • As a move to cut what Trump called “wasteful spending,” the U.S. is officially withdrawing from the Paris climate treaty.
    • A letter is set to be transmitted to the United Nations, informing them of the withdrawal. “We’re going to save over a trillion dollars by withdrawing from that treaty,” Trump stated.
  6. Restoring Free Speech Protections:
    • A directive was signed to prevent government agencies from engaging in what Trump described as “censorship and suppression of free speech.” The order aims to safeguard Americans’ right to express their views without fear of government interference.
  7. Ending Weaponization of Government:
    • Perhaps one of the most politically charged actions, Trump signed an order aimed at halting what he called the “weaponization of government” against political adversaries.
    • “We’re not going to allow what happened over the past four years to happen again,” Trump asserted, referencing investigations and prosecutions he claims were politically motivated.

After signing the initial batch of orders, Trump indicated that more executive actions were forthcoming. “We’re just getting started,” he said, hinting at further measures targeting immigration policies, energy independence, and economic reforms.

As President Trump moves quickly to implement his vision for a “Golden Age of America,” his administration faces the challenge of unifying a deeply divided nation while advancing his ambitious agenda. The upcoming days are expected to bring additional executive actions as Trump seeks to put his stamp on federal policy from day one.

The White House has indicated that further announcements will be made from the Oval Office throughout the week, covering key areas such as border security, economic growth, and foreign policy.
