TAMPA, Fla. – A section of Sligh Avenue in Tampa is closed following a crash that resulted in downed power lines.
The Tampa Police Department is investigating a crash that occurred at the intersection of Sligh Avenue and Fremont Avenue on March 13, 2025. A vehicle struck a utility pole, causing power lines to hang low across the roadway.
Fortunately, no injuries were reported as a result of the collision. However, the incident has led to the closure of Sligh Avenue in both directions, from Fremont Avenue to Rome Avenue.

Authorities have closed the road to ensure public safety while crews work to repair the damaged power lines. The closure is expected to remain in effect until the repairs are completed.
Drivers are being advised to seek alternate routes to avoid the affected area. The cause of the crash is currently under investigation by the Tampa Police Department.
