HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, Fla. – Starting Monday, September 9th, a section of Fern Hill Drive south of Gibsonton Drive will be temporarily closed for an intersection improvement project. The closure is expected to last until October 4th, although weather conditions could impact the timeline.
The closure is necessary to add additional left-turn lanes from Fern Hill Drive onto Gibsonton Drive, along with a through lane and an exclusive right-turn lane.
These improvements aim to enhance traffic flow and safety for both vehicles and pedestrians, and will also include upgrades to meet Americans with Disabilities Act standards.

Detours will be in place to guide motorists around the work zones. Drivers are advised to use U.S. 301 to the east or East Bay Road to the west as alternate north-south routes.
For any questions about the project, the public can reach out to Hillsborough County Public Works Customer Service at (813) 635-5400 or PWCustomerResolution@HCFL.gov.
