The liberal legacy media’s attempt to shield President Joe Biden from impeachment allegations is not working, so far.

On Thursday, the Daily Mail released a poll showing that 47% of respondents support House Republicans opening an impeachment probe into Biden over the shady overseas business deals of his son, Hunter.

That compares to 35% who oppose such an inquiry.

When looking at those who felt most intensely about the issue, 35% said they “strongly” back the investigation into Joe, while 27% indicated that they “strongly” object to that.

Support for the GOP probe had significant bipartisan support, the poll indicated.

Among Democrats, 22% strongly or somewhat agree with investigating Joe.

Worse for Joe is that 58% of those surveyed said he was “very” or “quite” likely involved in Hunter’s schemes. In comparison, 33% said he was not very or quite likely included in Hunter’s deals.

On that question, 31% of Democrats concurred that Joe was very or quite likely inappropriately involved in Hunter’s deals with foreign interests.

Meanwhile, 49% told the pollster that Hunter should give a closed-door deposition before sitting for a public hearing, as Republicans have demanded. Overall, 36% of Democrats were in that group.

On the other hand, 32% of all respondents supported his insistence for testifying only publicly.

The Daily Mail also asked respondents to Hunter in one word. The answer was “corrupt,” followed by “bad,” “criminal,” “crook,” and “guilty.”

Hunter’s legal troubles have worsened since GOP lawmakers ramped up the pressure on the Bidens.

A judge booted his sweetheart plea deal arranged by a federal prosecutor and earlier this month, the Justice Department filed nine new counts of tax fraud for his alleged attempt to evade paying $1.4 million in income taxes.

House Republicans for most of 2023 have been detailing Joe’s connection to Hunter’s deals, despite the White House’s denials that Joe played a role in them.

The White House narrative has shifted from Joe was never involved in and never discussed such deals with Hunter to most recently that he was not “financially” involved.

One key aspect of the GOP’s pursuit of Joe concerns when he, as vice president, pressured the previous Ukrainian government to fire top prosecutor Viktor Shokin who was investigating corruption at Burisma, an energy company that hired Hunter despite his lack of experience in the oil and gas industry.

Joe openly bragged in 2018 that he got Shokin fired by threatening to withhold U.S. aid from Ukraine
