Voters have found a new reason to dislike President Joe Biden, according to a new poll released.
A Gallup poll released on Monday found that Biden, whose popularity has hovered at or below historic lows for months and months, received lower ratings from voters in “positive personal qualities.”
Those qualities, the poll indicates, helped him defeat former President Donald Trump in 2020.
As Gallup noted on X, “Americans are less likely now than they were in 2020 to believe a number of positive personal qualities and characteristics apply to President Joe Biden.”

“The biggest decline has come in the percentage believing Biden is able to manage government effectively, but his scores are down at least six percentage points on each characteristic,” the pollster continued.
Meanwhile, the firm added, “Over the same period, public impressions of Donald Trump haven’t changed to a statically significant degree.”
As Gallup noted, the view that Biden can effectively manage the massive federal behemoth has dropped 13 points between 2020 and today.
On the other hand, Trump holds a 10-point advantage over Biden in this category.
But the Democratic incumbent has also swooned in many other areas. They include likability and showing good judgment in a crisis, both of which are down nine points; viewed as a strong and decisive leader, down eight points; cares about “people like you,” down seven points; and honesty and trustworthiness, down six points.

Trump leads by a whopping 19 points when seen as a strong, decisive leader, and by five points pertaining to displaying good judgment in a crisis.
Biden’s biggest margin is likability, where he leads Trump by 20 points.
Gallup noted that Biden has plunged significantly in the eyes of the independents who helped him win last time.
“Fewer independents now than in 2020 say Biden possesses each of the six characteristics rated in both years, with the declines ranging from seven to 19 points. The largest decline is for being able to manage government effectively, down from 53% to 34%,” the pollster noted.

In its conclusion, Gallup observed, “The 2024 election will differ from the 2020 Trump-Biden contest in one important way: Voters today have significantly less positive views of Biden overall and of his personal qualities now than four years ago. That might put Biden and Trump on a more level playing field than was the case in 2020. The current election environment could be more similar to 2016 when Trump and Hillary Clinton were the least-liked pair of major-party candidates to face off in an election.”
And we all know what happened in 2016.
