WINTER HAVEN, Fla. – While softball season doesn’t officially start until spring, Polk State Softball is gearing up to help young athletes hone their skills this fall. Head Coach Kevin Lewis and his staff will be hosting the first-ever Polk State Hitting and Pitching Camp for Young Nesters, a three-week program designed for players aged 8-12.

The camp will run for 90 minutes each Sunday, starting on September 29th and continuing on October 6th and 13th.

Participants will receive instruction from experienced coaches, including Lewis, who played college baseball and represented the U.S. in international tournaments, and Assistant Coach Tate McClellan, a former home run leader for East Carolina University.

Pitching Coach Madison Edwards, a three-time All-Conference player, will focus on developing young pitchers.

“There is a lot of softball talent in this community, and this is our chance to help sharpen their skills and get them ready for the spring season,” Lewis said. “It’s also a great opportunity for these kids to learn from coaches who played at very high levels and for us to showcase our facilities and introduce local families to our program.”

Registration is now open, with a fee of $150 per participant. To sign up or get more information, contact Coach Lewis at kllewis@polk.edu. Be sure to include the player’s name, age, position, and t-shirt size.
