Polk County Sheriff’s Office Offers Free Women’s Self-Defense Class

WINTER HAVEN, Fla. – The Polk County Sheriff’s Office (PCSO) is offering a free Women’s Basic Self-Defense and Personal Safety class on Saturday, April 5th, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

The class, led by the PCSO Crime Prevention Unit, is designed to equip women with basic self-defense techniques and personal safety information that could prove invaluable in potentially dangerous situations.

The class is open to women aged 13 and older. Participants under 18 must have a parent present to sign a waiver at the start of the session.

The program consists of a 15-minute lecture followed by approximately 45 minutes of hands-on training. Participants will have the opportunity to practice self-defense techniques on a body opponent bag (B.O.B.), which will be provided by the PCSO.

The class duration may be extended if more than 30 women attend, with 15 minutes added for every additional 10-15 participants.
