POLK COUNTY, Fla. – Polk County Sheriff deputies arrested 56 impaired drivers in the month of May, charging them with DUI.
According to PCSO, 57 were arrested in April.
“Not much of an improvement, but at least it was a step in the right direction,” said PCSO in a social media post.
Many of these folks were also involved in crashes prior to being arrested.
“It’s a sad, never-ending problem. Many more people were arrested for DUI and taken to the Polk County Jail, but they were arrested by the city police departments and FHP. These 56 people are just the PCSO arrests,” said PCSO.
PCSO added, “We will wrap this up pretty much the same way we always do…by pleading with everyone not to drive while impaired. Do not drive after drinking alcoholic beverages, or taking narcotics, or medications.”
