POLK COUNTY, Fla. – A late-night house fire in Polk City turned tragic as firefighters battled flames and rescued a trapped individual.
Polk County Fire Rescue responded to the blaze on Jason Lane in Polk City on Saturday night. Firefighters arrived on the scene shortly after 10:30 p.m. to find a home engulfed in flames with a person trapped inside.
Crews quickly located and rescued the individual, providing immediate medical attention. Unfortunately, the victim later passed away at the hospital.

Firefighters worked diligently to extinguish the blaze, bringing it under control by 12:06 a.m. No firefighters were injured during the incident.
The cause of the fire is currently under investigation by the Florida State Fire Marshal’s office.
