POLK COUNTY, Fla. – A Polk County Sheriff’s deputy went above and beyond the call of duty by completing an Instacart grocery delivery after arresting the driver.
On Thursday evening, Deputy Sheriff Wainwright observed a Hyundai Sonata parked illegally in the fire lane of a Publix parking lot in Winter Haven. The driver, a 30-year-old woman, was found to be driving with a revoked license and was subsequently arrested.

The woman explained that she was an Instacart shopper picking up a grocery order. To ensure the customer received their groceries, Deputy Wainwright obtained permission from the driver to complete the delivery. He enlisted the help of Deputy Grissom to deliver the groceries to the customer’s doorstep.
Deputy Grissom followed the “no contact” delivery instructions, taking a photo as proof of delivery and leaving the groceries at the door. The grateful customer retrieved their order and waved to the deputy as he left.
