POLK COUNTY, Fla. – A Polk County Sheriff’s deputy had a memorable start to his career when he found himself wrangling an alligator on just his third day of patrol.
The encounter occurred Wednesday afternoon when a woman called the Sheriff’s Office to report an uninvited guest on her front lawn – a six-foot alligator.
Deputy Jacobs responded to the scene on Canal Drive in Lakeland and quickly located the unwelcome reptile. Given the gator’s size, a professional trapper was called in to assist.
In the meantime, Deputy Jacobs kept a watchful eye on the gator, ensuring it didn’t wander off or pose a threat to anyone.
