POLK COUNTY, Fla. – The Polk County Board of Commissioners took major steps to enhance healthcare services for residents by approving three key measures on Tuesday.
Expanding Addiction and Behavioral Health Services:
The Board increased funding for Tri-County Human Services’ residential and outpatient treatment programs by $1.4 million, bringing the total annual funding to $3.8 million. This expansion aims to reach more individuals struggling with addiction and behavioral health issues.

Increasing Inpatient Psychiatric Services:
An amendment to a contract with Winter Haven Hospital will increase county funding from $200,000 to $2 million for inpatient psychiatric services. These services include counseling, behavioral health support, crisis intervention, and acute detox for eligible low-income residents.
Establishing New Community Health Center in Bartow:
The Board approved a $550,000 contract with Central Florida Health Care (CFHC) to establish a new community health center in Bartow, an underserved area.
The center will offer adult primary care and pharmacy services to low-income residents, addressing a significant need in the community.
