Police in Bridgeton, New Jersey, are searching for a woman who climbed over a barrier at the tiger enclosure at Cohanzick Zoo, putting herself dangerously close to the big cats by reaching through a metal fence. The incident was captured on video, which the Bridgeton Police Department released on Tuesday, though the exact timing of the event remains unclear.
In a statement posted on Facebook, Bridgeton police explained: “A female at the Cohanzick Zoo went over the wooden fence at the tiger enclosure and began enticing the tiger, nearly getting bit by putting her hand through the wire enclosure. We are asking for help identifying the female in the video.”

The video shows the woman scaling a wooden barrier meant to keep visitors at a safe distance from the tigers. She then approaches the metal fence and places her hand through a gap, seemingly attempting to pet the tiger. The animal quickly snaps its jaws toward her, prompting her to pull her hand back just in time. The woman then pauses to pose for a photo before climbing back over the wooden fence.
Bridgeton police issued a reminder that it is against city ordinance to climb over any fence at the zoo. They are asking anyone with information to contact Officer Cusano at 856-451-0033 ext. 0 or submit anonymous tips via BPD.TIPS.
